They remove it with the most idiotic reason. Hell, go try to leave a review on a show. A website in 2022 without dark mode is basically declaring its staff too incompetent to keep up with the times. A website in 2020 not having dark mode or a theme that mimics it is in denial. I will also switch to Anilist, I think due to what was written above. MAL is dinosaur and it will stay a dinosaur. One of the reasons Ive switched over to Anilist, plus Anilist doesn't have annoying ads plastered all over the website, Using an adblocker on here just creates ugly white patches on the site. at this point people will leave because an extension can only do so much, and what if it breaks? you gotta keep looking for another one. Honestly the best comment I've read so far lol. Probably at this rate if nothing change then see you all in this thread in the next 3-5 years or even more, still requesting the probably never come dark mode. The more MAL postpone this, the more complicated the site become and back to "because It affects every single page on the website and so is not an easy change to implement without significant backend work." excuse. In consideration mean nothing, also while Mal know dark mode is one of the most sought after feature, then why not prioritize it first? After 8 years and still nothing at this point it's just laziness and an excuse to not to do it. It's already 2021 and already near the end of it, and yet a big site as MAL can't even put out a DARK MODE option. Google docs especially.I might as well buy a server tower at this point my PC is running out of storage bays: next month i should be at 30tb. They're incredibly convenient for file sharing but Google Drive and Google docs have a huge privacy loophole that I could probably get in trouble for sharing. I personally don't like using Google Cloud services. Plus if a court wants to take that service to court regardless of not being in a 5 eyes country they can contact Google and look at your history. If you're using Google on top of a VPN, especially when signed it, it won't list you as being in a different geolocation because it saves tracked data over time. That's another issue i have, either pay out the ass / make my own - it's just convenient, but I don't think I'd use their onboard stuff if it's free or hosted in a 5 Eyes country. Also if it's free then it's not a true form of privacy and is akin to a data collector or a tracking client/browser. The VPN I currently use isn't within a government's jurisdiction so they can't take traffic to court. Where does Opera host their VPN service? If it's within the 5 Eyes then that VPN service is moot. The real Chrome should only be used for Youtube Studio if you're a Youtuber imo. I've heard they even delete pirated files in your Google Drive, which doesn't surprise me, and I'm glad I have all my video files on iCloud now lol. Opera wants privacy too, unlike Google who are out of control. Opera GX has been a lot of fun, and they have built-in VPN, ad block, and tracker block My other security conscious friend actually uses Opera so when I switch Distros I'll ask him about it. The biggest offender in my opinion would be the tracking service Honey. Any extension 'cleared' or 'okayed' by Google doesn't really mean much. Any extensions, even FF Pocket track you, ( I don't even know why Pocket is a thing, it defeats the purpose of using FF). I was almost done with using Google or tracking 'services' but this time it's for real and not some stupid OCD. I used to run everything via virtualization but one of my VMs got backdoored a few months ago and caused a huge mess. They have a built-in forced dark mode which might persist despite what privacy settings you like
